Skitser og strik//Sketches and knit

Opgaven fra konkurrencen Innovating Sustainable Fashion lød på at skabe tre sæt ud fra en samlet kollektion. Vi har arbejdet på projektet siden starten af september og er nu klar til eksamen på vores skole i morgen. Vi er meget, meget spændte - men endnu mere spændte er vi på det kommende show, som initiativtagerne til konkurrencen står for. Det finder sted den 2. december med en efterfølgende udstilling på Dansk Designcenter. Kom kom kom!

The task of the competition Innovating Sustainable Fashion was to create three outfits from a complete collection. We have worked on the project since the beginning of September and are now ready for the exam at our school tomorrow. We are very, very excited - but we are even more excited about the forthcoming show, which the initiators of competition stands for. It takes place on 2th of December with a following exhibition at the Danish Design Center. Come come come!

Vi har knoklet og knoklet, og er nu snart ved vejs ende i det strikkede univers, vi har levet i de sidste mange uger. Vi har ikke fået vist alle vores skitser her på bloggen, men her har I nogle af vores strikprøver, som vi har arbejdet ud fra i tilblivelsen af vores kollektion: The cactus, the bear and the mountain.

We have worked and worked, and are now soon coming to the end of this knitting universe, we have lived in the past several weeks. We have not showed all of our sketches here on the blog, but here you have some of our knitting samples that we have worked on in the shaping of our collection: The cactus, the bear and the mountain.

Strikprøverne er brugt i de forskellige tøj-styles og er inspireret af ordene kaktus, bjørn og bjerg - som har været en gennemgående inspirations kilde gennem hele projektet.

Her ser I de første illustrationer i retningen mod noget der rent faktisk ligner tøj! Disse er ikke endelige, men en start mod at udvikle en kollektion med udgangspunkt i alt det vi har vist jer indtil videre.

Here you see the first illustration in the direction of something that actually resembles clothes! These are not definitive, but a start to develop a collection based on everything we've shown you so far.

Disse mærkværdige ansigter er opstået i de før viste skitser, og minder os om en totempæls små-uhyggelige dyriske ansigtstræk. Vi har allerede brugt dem som en del af vores udtryk til bloggen, som jo ses ovenfor. Derudover har vi tiltænkt dem en yderligere funktion som mønstre og grafiske udtryk i vores kollektion. Er de mon for uhyggelige?

These strange faces have emerged in the sketches as seen before and reminds us of a totem pole with it's animal-like facial features. We have already used them as a part of our expression here on the blog, which is seen above, but we have also thought of them to have an additional function as patterns and graphic expression of our collection. Maybe they are too creepy?

Her har I lidt mere om, hvordan vores projekt forløber sig.
Efter collagerne gik vi i gang med at lave nogle hurtige og spontane skitser.
Vi brugte de silhuetter og elementer som var kommet frem i collagerne og overførte dem til skitserne. På denne måde fandt vi nye måder at kombinere form og detaljer på.

After the collages, we started on some quick and spontaneous sketches.
We used the silhouettes and elements from the collages and transferred them to the sketches. In this way we found new ways to combine form and details.

Nicklas Skovgaard er kun 15 år og har sin egen modeblog, hvor han viser sine nyeste DIY-projekter, samt hvad der inspirerer ham. Derudover syr han sine helt egne ting, og hvor er det imponerende at en så ung gut er så sej. Han kreerer selv sit tøj, så det bliver helt unikt og lige hans smag - og så syr han det meste i hånden. Wow.

Nicklas Skovgaard is only 15 years and has his own fashion blog where he shows his latest DIY projects, and what inspires him. He also sews his very own things, and it is impressive that such a young guy is so cool. He creates his own clothes, making it completely unique and just his taste - and he makes it mostly by hand. Wow.

Mode, natur og verden//Fashion, nature and the world

Modeugen i Paris er i gang, og vi kan ikke få øjnene fra Vivienne Westwoods inspirerende kollektion. Westwood er kendt for at have stærke politiske holdninger og er ikke bleg for at integrere disse i sine designs, og slet ikke i sine modeshows. Denne gang var ikke en undtagelse, da modellerne ikke blot bar tøjet, men også statements i form af papir nålet på, imens de gik på catwalken. Stemningen bar præg af referencer til naturens ukontrollerbare form - modellernes vilde, glødende hår og det revne, asymmetriske tøj. Showet var en kommentar på klimaforandringen og en opfordring til at tage stilling. Og netop at tage stilling, er hvad Vivienne Westwood ønsker, at vi som forbrugere bør gøre.

Fashion Week in Paris is on and we can not take our eyes from Vivienne Westwood inspiring collection. Westwood is known for having strong political opinions and do not hesitate to integrate them into her designs, and certainly not in her fashion shows. either This time was no exception, since the models not only wore clothes, but also statements in the form of paper pined to the clothes while they walked on the catwalk. The atmosphere had references to nature's uncontrollable form - the models wild, fiery hair and the ripped, asymmetrical clothes. The show was a commentary on climate change and an invitation to take a stand. And just that, is what Vivienne Westwood wish that we as consumers should do.

OG! Bernhard Willhelm viste også en dejlig, inspirerende kollektion, stylet med naturen selv. Blade og fjer prydede modellernes hoveder, og mindede os om hvor smuk naturen er og hvor godt vi skal passe på den!

AND! Bernhard Willhelm also showed a beautiful, inspiring collection styled with nature itself. Leaves and feathers adorned the models' heads, and reminded us how beautiful nature is and how well we must take care of it!

Svalerne loppemarked// Swallows Flea market

Insane 70´ties platforms..

Sidste weekend var jeg på svalernes loppemarked.. det er nok et af de fedeste loppemarkeder i københavn.. det er der hver lørdag og hver gang jeg tar derhen kommer jeg altid hjem med noget godt i posen.. de har alt lige fra garn, gamle fine ting, legetøj, bøger, tøj... everything... alt hvad du har brug for til enten bare at pifte dit tøj op med eller ting til at lave fede accessories af...
Derudover går alt hvad svalerne tjener på loppemarkedet til projekter og aktiviteter, der skal styrke de fattige kvinder i Bangladesh og Sydindien til selv at kæmpe sig ud af fattigdom..
Så udover at du hjælper vores klode ved at købe genbrug hjælper du også en masse kvinder i nød.. det fanme sejt..
Det ligger på Nattergalevej 6 i nordvest og bliver afholdt hver lørdag kl 10- 15.. tjek også deres hjemmeside hvor der står meget mere om deres u-lands projekter..

Yarn, yarn yarn

Last weekend I went to the swallows flea market .. this is probably one of the coolest flea markets in Copenhagen .. it takes place every Saturday and every time I´ll go there i bring home some good stuff.. they have everything from yarn, old fine things, toys, books, clothes ... everything ... all you need to either to pep up your clothes or make cool accessories of ...
In addition every earned danish crown at the swallows flea market, goes straight to projects and activities designed to strengthen the poor women in Bangladesh and South India, to lift themselves out of poverty ..
So besides that you help our planet by buying recycled stuff you also helps a lot of women in need .. it´s f*** cool ..
It´s at Nattergalevej 6 in the northwest and is held every Saturday at 10 - 15.. also check out their website which says much more about their developing projects

Jeg kom hjem med plastik blomster som jeg tror skal bruges til en blomster krans hårbøjle.. en fin kort jakke.. og noget farvestrålende garn..

I came home with plastic flowers which I believe will be used for a flower headband .. a nice short jacket .. and some colorful yarn ..

BBC 's webside har længe haft et fokus på bæredygtigt og økologisk mode. Tiltaget hedder "Thread" og er en perlerække af inspiration lige fra gør-det-selv projekter til street style. Derudover findes der videoer med fokus på produktion og de etiske spørgsmål der burde tages stilling til, når vi som forbrugere køber tøj. Hvordan kan det for eksempel lade sig gøre, at en top i H&M kun koster 40kr?

BBC's website has for a while had a focus on sustainable and ecological fashion. "Thread" has a lot of inspiration from do-it-yourself projects to street style. Also, there are videos with a focus on production and the ethical issues in which we as consumers should care about when buying clothes. How is it for example possible that a top at H & M only cost 40kr?

Innovating Sustainable Fashion

Bloggen udspringer af vores tilmelding til designkonkurrencen "Innovating Sustainable Fashion" (www.responsibledesign.dk) hvor vi er i gang med at udvikle en bæredygtig strik-kollektion målrettet mod teenagers. Bæredygtighed er for os i bund og grund et fokus på at værne om miljøet. Vi har valgt at bruge den indianske kultur som reference, da de forstår at leve i en ideologi hvor menneske og natur er ligeværdige, derfor titlen "Totems". Totempælen fortæller en historie ud fra sammensatte elementer. Disse har referencer til natur og menneske som visualiseres på abstrakt vis. Ingen totempæl er ens, og hver stamme sammensætter sine egne for at fortælle om deres slægt. Netop dette princip vil bruge til at skabe en kollektion som består af flere elementer, som kan individualiseres og sættes sammen på forskellig vis.

Her på bloggen kan I følge vores proces og endelig komme med kommentarer og forslag.

We have started the blog because of our entry to the design competition "Innovating Sustainable Fashion" (www.responsibledesign.dk) We are in the process of developing a sustainable knitwear collection focusing on teenagers as our main targetgroup. Sustainability for us is basically a focus on protecting the environment. We have chosen to use the Native American culture as a reference, because they understand to live in an ideology in which man and nature are equal, therefore, entitled "Totems". The totem pole tells a story based on compound elements. These are references to nature and man, visualized in an abstract manner. None totem pole are the same and each tribe put together its own to tell about their genealogy. This principle will we use to create a collection which consists of several elements that may be customized and put together in different ways.
